Castor Equities is dedicated to acquiring a curated group of value-add open-air retail assets. Our focus on grocery-anchored and strip centers reflects our commitment to meeting the essential needs of communities while providing lucrative opportunities for investors and fostering long term relationships with our tenants. We aim to enhance the retail experience by creating inviting spaces that inspire commerce, connectivity, and growth. 

Castor Equities will leverage its collective expertise in the retail space in urban, high street, and open-air shopping centers to fully maximize the value of our assets. Castor Equities will own, operate, and manage our properties.

Meet Our Team

Jonathan Snider

Jonathan Snider is the co-Founder and Managing Partner of Castor Equities, focused primarily on value-add retail opportunities up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Snider has spent nearly a decade at Sherwood Equities, a private New York focused development and investment firm, with a large presence in Times Square and Hudson Yards. At Sherwood, Snider has led over $500m of equity transactions and built a robust lending business specializing in land loans, construction financings, and condo inventory debt.

Snider serves as Co-Chair of the Revenue Committee for the Hudson Yards/Hells Kitchen Business Improvement District. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and son.

Samantha Rachesky Buxton

Samantha Rachesky Buxton is the co-Founder and Managing Partner of Castor Equities, focused on value-add retail opportunities.

Previously, Samantha was responsible for sourcing and underwriting C-PACE opportunities at North Bridge. Prior to that, Samantha was at Sagehall, an opportunistic real estate fund focused on the NYC Metro area. At Sagehall, Samantha focused on the firm’s commercial and retail properties. Prior to business school, Samantha was an Acquisition Associate on the Retail Team at SL Green Realty Corp., where she focused on New York City developments. In this role, Samantha was responsible for evaluating investment opportunities across the capital stack. Samantha began her career as an Analyst in Asset Management at Starwood Capital Group, where she was actively involved in all phases of multifamily, office, and master planned communities’ investments, including financing, leasing, asset management, and dispositions for properties on the West Coast.

Samantha has an AB in Sociology and Economics with honors from Harvard University and received her MBA in Real Estate from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Samantha is a New York Women Executives in Real Estate (WX) Scholar.
